My motivations

for knitting and crocheting almost always have something to do with "I need it tomorrow" (which means it's not going to be intricate, that's for sure!) or "I need it to go with this other thing" (which means that puts some restrictions on colour and/or style). Whenever I consider an interesting pattern, say a scarf that is lacy, I think, "But what about a matching hat and maybe wristlets? What would match well?"

Now I've been thinking of making a pair of wrist warmers to use in summer, if I'm gonna be in a Starbucks for any length of time--those coffee houses are always (blessedly) freezing! But one all-round useful pair? If so, what colour? Or wrist warmers to go with every summer hat I have? and/or shawls? Common sense would say white wrist warmers with maybe a little more than very plain stitches. Maybe it's time for cables.

I'm also really being drawn to a knitted diagonal lace scarf pattern, using light green Red Heart Symphony. But already I'm trying to think, "How warm is that going to be? Symphony is deceptively light-weight. It's nice and warm...well, when it's crocheted. Maybe it will be lighter, knitted..." Argh. Too many decisions!

ETA: If I were going to do a feather-and-fan scarf, what kind of hat should I do?

Okay, now I need sleep.
