Amigurumi

Got up waaaaay too early. I need to go back to bed and/or get a nap later today.

I've been reading/rereading stuff online about amigurumi techniques and looking at patterns. I need to finish my little Baby Banana amigurumi. And I want to make a bunny for Bunnicula. I'll show B. some patterns after I get a good collection on my hard drive and let him choose.

Anyone here do amigurumi? Any tips? Photos of your FO's?

i haven't actually done it, but i left you 2 links that i know of that should be at least a little helpful.

i don't have anything i could stuff one with, or i would have made something by now :P
Thanks for the links!

If I were desperate, I'd stuff something with Kleenex or a small amount of paper towel. It might work. :-) Or even waste yarn.
if you do anything made from plant materials (like paper) you can't wash it though. and yarn doesn't work well as a stuffing. >.< people've suggested bean bag beans, which are made of plastic, and are washable, at least for the bottom. somewhere in my house is supposed to be acrylic stuffing, but i can't find it anywhere.
I can't imagine needing to wash an amigurumi, unless it gets soiled in some way or if it's to be a pet toy. It's not like a hat or scarf.

Really? Yarn not working as stuffing? I thought short bits might work.

I'm not sure I'd want to use the plastic pellets--unless I put them inside a little cloth bag first.
yarn unravels, and then the pieces worm their way out.

they make the plastic pellets in larger sizes, like bean sized, so they don't spill out all over.

and a lot of people use them like stuffed animals, and wash them with their bedsheets and stuff after they get sick. if it's just for decoration, then they don't need washing. a lot of times people will make amigurumi teddy bears and stuff to give to children.
Ah, okay. Thanks for the explanations. :-)
