I've been reading the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire series of books by Charlaine Harris. I'm currently reading Definitely Dead. Something really *really* bad has happened, something that changes everything.

You know an author is good if you're feeling the main character's pain as if it were your own...

I never heard of this series...perhaps I should check it out.
I totally LOVE Anne Rice's vampire books.
My daughter is now getting into the Twilight series and recommending them. (good taste for a 9 year old, but then, she is a voracious reader, like her daddy).

These are REALLY good books! I can't stop reading them!

I forget how many of Anne Rice's I read. It was a while back. I liked the witches more than the vampires, though. :-P

I have the first book in the Twilight series, but haven't read it yet. I have everything else on hold (except for non-fiction) while I read all the Sookie books. :-)

For a somewhat light-hearted (at first) series there are the Queen Betsy/Undead books by Mary Janice Davidson.
