Jonathan Coulton concert

Some of this will be from my paper journal, with other stuff added as I remember:

The guys went out to eat while I finished getting ready. About 7:15pm the guys swung by to pick me up, and we all went to the 20th Century Theater to see Jonathan Coulton in concert! Paul & Storm opened for him, and they were *great*! Great tight harmonies and *funny*! Lots of audience participation (packed house, btw!) during their portion of the show and during Jonathan Coulton's too. Jonathan Coulton turned out to be this down-to-earth guy with amazing talent. This was the most fun concert I've been to in AGES.

After the show Bunnicula bought me a JoCo CD ("Thing a Week Four"), which Mr. Coulton was kind enough to sign for me. He was just standing around chatting with people, very nice. I told him I was afraid he might not do "Re: Your Brains", but he said that that song needs the audience to be warmed up [for audience participation--we all become zombies!] and he usually does that last. :-) I also told him how much I enjoyed the concert.

Bunnicula also got me Paul & Storm's "Gumbo Pants" CD, and they (rather distractedly) signed it for me.

We all had a wonderful evening!

---------------------------------------------

Odds & Ends: Jonathan Coulton joined Paul & Storm for "Nugget Man"--such lovely harmony! Paul and Storm threw snack prizes out to different folks in the audience at various times. We all got to be pirates during "The Captain's Wife's Lament".

JoCo messed up on his second song, "Shop Vac", but we all just laughed with him. Paul & Storm joined JoCo for several songs, including their rendition of the They Might Be Giants' "Birdhouse in Your Soul". Gorgeous! I loved "You're My Moon" (about Pluto and Charon--a beautiful love song!). That determined which CD I got last night. :-)

OMG, I love Jonathan Coulton! Too cool! Allll we wanna do is eat your brains...
Yayayayay! I am so glad someone else on my friends list not only knows who Jonathan Coulton *is* but likes him too!!

We got to sing that! He said, on our second trial run, that we were sounding too musical, that zombies probably can't or don't care about carrying a tune. :-P So since it wasn't my key, I resorted to just sort of shouting it. :-D

I only have one of his CDs so far (I had downloaded only 2 of his MP3s previously, but also love "Still Alive"); but I plan on getting ALL his stuff eventually! He is just so nice and TALENTED! You should see/hear his wonderful guitar work. And he used a couple electronic devices/instruments/toys that were really cool.
