TV

Waiting for the cable repair person to show up. That will be between 11am and 1:30pm, they say. We're going to have them shut off the cable (TV) for now, but leave Road Runner cable on.

I tried to figure out where else we could put the cable modem, but it's just going to have to stay sitting on top of the plastic CD cases we have on a coffee table by the window. It's all sheeted in drop-cloth plastic, tented up for air to get to the cable modem.

Meanwhile, we have to remember where our little portable TV is AND find out about where to buy one of those digital converters, which we never thought we would need. ::sigh:: If we have any severe weather down the road, I want to be able to tune into the local news channels.

TV Update

Here's what we're doing: we've ditched the DVR and are having very very basic cable, what is called the LifeLine tier, for $10 a month. That's fine. It gives us the very basic service, in case of an emergency. It has the Big Three networks, plus the local weather radar and PBS stations.

And we're keeping our RoadRunner service, which has gone up to $40 a month. So with taxes, etc., it will be about $55 a month.

That will save us about $45 a MONTH! I don't think we're going to miss those channels that much. That money can be used for other bills that we *need* the money for.

Winter Storm Warning!

I was in the middle of a flying race with a fairy in "Disney Fairies: TinkerBell" when the weather radio alarm went off! We've got a winter storm warning! Heavy (for us) snow plus gusty winds. We will get 4 - 8 inches of new snow today/tonight, on top of what is left from a *week* ago!

Really pretty out now! Snow coming down hard and blanketing everything. :-)

When Bunnicula came back from errands earlier this afternoon, he said it was a heavy wet snow. That's the kind that can bring down tree limbs, etc. So we're charging up our cell phones and I got out the battery-operated lantern in case we lose power.

Snow

I have no idea how much is out there, because it's been blowing and drifting like crazy. Maybe we got 4 inches of snow? Maybe more? Hard to tell. It's still snowing now.

At least there's no ice this time! Yay! :-)

You realize this is a good excuse for the landlord to postpone fixing the roof. Well, to be fair, what roofer is going to fix a roof that has snow all over it? It's a flat roof, so the snow is up there until it melts.
