Acres and acres...

More Animal Crossing: City Folk stuff. I spent HOURS marking off acres in our town of New_Hope. I'm not finished. After I get all the 16 x 16 acres marked off (and it's going to be tricky with our island in the middle of the river), then I have to rearrange some trees--there need to be 12-16 in each acre. Technically, 3-4 in each quarter-acre. And I forget how many flowers in each acre.

All this is to get a "perfect town". If you have a perfect town for...15 days? (I think it is), everyone gets a gold watering can. This is necessary if you want to raise gold roses. You need to cross-breed red roses with red to get black roses. When they wilt and turn brown, you water them with the gold watering can. Voila, gold roses! Made of GOLD. They never need watering.

I wonder how the Happy Room Academy rates them? Maybe having some gold roses in my house would boost my score with them. Gold roses are not in my very near future, though.

Animal Crossing can be a lot of work!

I'm blown away!

Not only did I win the House Model this morning from the Happy Room Academy (by scoring 70,000 or more points--I have 117,399 as of now); I also have the Model Room of the Month for the theme of "sophistication"! That means it's on display in the City at the HRA HQ.

What *really* blows me away is that I thought, okay, I got the house model and recognition because of having both the Harvest series and the Jingle series of furniture. I guess that sure helped; but the room on display at the HRA HQ is MY BASEMENT!! I thought the HRA *never* looked at basements! It's not even the way I totally want it yet! But it's full of Japanese furniture and rare-ish things. Lyle was absolutely nuts over my lucky cat (not a rare one--just the one you can buy at Tom Nook's) and wants to know WHERE I GOT THAT PUPPY! heh

Back in the first game, I used to have a suspicion that the HRA inspectors peeked into basements. They used to send letters with suggestions of what you could do with interior decoration; and they often included hints of what you could do with things you (secretly, or so we thought) had in your basement.

So I am seriously grateful to Indigo and Keny for the Jingle series of furniture. And very appreciative of Sarah's helping me get a lot of the Japanese items.

Next stop: perfect town. I have all the acre markers down now (what a JOB! 25 acres, 16 x 16 squares). Later today I'll have to see about quarter-acre markers. Then tomorrow comes the adjustments to landscaping.

TV and games

I spent HOURS finishing putting the quarter-acre patterns on the ground in New_Hope. I hope I have *time* tomorrow to do the landscaping. If not tomorrow, then Tuesday.

Bunnicula and I watched Episode 2 of "Monarchy: The Royal Family at Work" on DVD. Fascinating!

We then played "Boom Blox" (for the Wii) on cooperative mode--that was fun!

And lastly, we watched the latest episode of "Desperate Housewives". We've watched faithfully since the first season. :-)

Twitters of the Day

What I have been twittering about today:

  • 00:45 AC:CF: I hate thinking of this, but a lot of our trees are on acre boundaries. I'll have to chop down and replant within acres? #
  • 01:07 @indigonightbird Thanks! That's going to make things easier! Our island in the middle of the forked river is going to be a pain to mark! #
  • 06:53 Up reeeeaally early. I should go back to bed and get more sleep. We'll see. #
  • 06:55 @indigonightbird I just now read your tweet. I think I *will* have to leave the island for last! Working from the sides and down from top. #
  • 09:59 Wow! Animal Crossing: City Folk pride and amazement! countrymouse.insanejournal.com/867808.html #
  • 10:00 @indigonightbird Did you do quarter-acre markers too? Or just have two pairs of eyes watching and counting? #
  • 10:02 @davewiner Wow, that photo and the reality of Chinese unemployed migrant workers recalls "The Good Earth". #
  • 11:32 @indigonightbird Okay, I'll mark just the sides. Sounds like a good compromise. :-) #
  • 11:33 @indigonightbird Thanks to you guys I got the house model! Congrats on your basement being featured! :-) #
