Stuff about games from this morning will be in tonight's batch of Twitterings.

PENS and INKS arrived today! Bunnicula got a charcoal Lamy Safari and a New Green Pelikano--wow, that Pelikano writes smooth! I want one of each of those (the first because I am collecting Safaris and AL-Stars, the second because it's a neat smooth-writing pen)!

I got my Glossy White/Chrome Clip Limited Edition Lamy Safari (fine nib), but haven't inked it yet. Lovely!

Inks that arrived: I got: bottles of Waterman Green, Parker Quink Green, J.Herbin Lierre Sauvage (Wild Ivy), Violette Pensee (Thoughtful Violet), and Larmes de Cassis (Black Currant Teardrops). Also one little packet of Pelikan Turquoise short international cartridges. B. got Parker Red cartridges, Lamy Black and Blue-Black cartridges, and Pelikan Brilliant Green long international cartridges.

I think we have one more shipment of stuff yet to come in--my Rotring Core and Inoxcrom Kukuxumusu cow pens.

I've decided not to mess with vintage pens anymore (well, unless someone gifted me with one/some). I gave my three Esterbrooks to Cat'r several years ago, and he's got problems now with two of them.

The only vintage pen I now own is my brother's Parker "51", which was made around the middle 1950's (or possibly earlier--I am trying to get some advice about finding out the date of manufacture).

I've got some "old" pens, but not what I consider vintage: they are mostly Sheaffer No-Nonsense cartridge pens (which can accept a converter) that I've owned since the 1960's.

I mostly like, in "true" fountain pens, piston-fillers. No sacs to worry about.

Kent's Parker "51" has what is called an aero-metric filling system. It *does* have a sac; but according to Richard Binder's site, "The ink reservoir is an ordinary sac, but the sac is made of a transparent plastic material that Parker called 'Pli-Glass.' Unlike the rubber diaphragm in the Vacumatic, the Pli-Glass sac is immune to the corrosive effects of ink and therefore does not ossify."

So anyway, modern for me. :-)
