I did get something productive done, though: I completed my assignment for the GOF Membership Pride Committee just now. :-)

I'm probably going to flush out my new glossy black Summer Special Edition Lamy Safari so I can change nibs on it. It has a 1.5 italic nib on it right now, and really that's toooo wide for my normal handwriting or even my calligraphy. I have a spare fine nib I can put into it. Nervous about doing it, but I've been given instructions on how to change the nibs over on Fountain Pen Network. I'll do it later today...I think. :-P

Well, I did it. I used Scotch Magic Tape across the nib I wanted to remove (as per instructions), pulled down and towards me, and off it came! I then slid the Fine nib onto the feed.

My only concern now is why in the world the ink I put into it after this (a Lamy turquoise cartridge) is looking so pale. It's not skipping or balking. The ink is just PALE.

I have that question/concern up over on FPN.

DUH! I forgot the cardinal rule of: let the pen dry for 24 hours after you've flushed it out before filling it again. There will be water still in the feed from flushing it. And water dilutes ink!

So eventually the ink should darken to its natural colour, after the water has gotten out. I knew the people at FPN would be able to help me. :-)
