Check out Google!

Google has turned out the lights for today, in honour of Earth Hour!

I've already gotten the battery-operated Coleman lantern out. It's on the kitchen table, along with playing cards, the Cribbage board, and about three other games we can play.

Remember: if you'd like to join us in this rolling voluntary blackout, turn off your lights and all non-essential electrical devices at 8pm your time for an hour. Help the Earth!

TV + yarn

Bunnicula and I got caught up watching "Dancing With The Stars". Then next week we can start watching on time and VOTING! :-)

Then I watched an episode of "Knitty Gritty" I'd recorded. It dealt with knitting a bias scarf (what I had already done with my Embers Set scarf); then also how to knit a ribbed shoulder wrap done in novelty yarns.

Ack, why is Trendsetter yarn so expensive?! Eeep! I'd like to make one of these wraps, but I will have to find some alternative yarns (or very good deals). Besides, one of the yarns called for (Dune, I think) contains mohair. I can't use animal fibers--allergies. I'll have to think on this...Yarn substitutions, here I come. :-P

Where were you when the lights went out?

I guess we should've gotten up to something naughty. :-P Instead we played *other* kinds of games. :-D

Bunnicula and I (Cat'r is not here this weekend) played Cribbage: zie beat me 127-109. I didn't get skunked--whew! :-) At one point I had a Double Pair Royal (all Jacks!!).

Then we played the ever-fun dice game Cosmic Wimpout. I won 325-200.

And lastly we played Pickomino (aka Worms on a Barbie). I ended up with 15 worms to B.'s 7 worms (most worms at the end wins).

Our lantern was nice and bright. The breeze coming in from the bedroom window kept us cool enough. The time went fast!

And that's how we spent our Earth Hour 2008. How was yours?
