I started reading
Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor again. It's a mammoth sprawling impeccably-researched historical romance published in 1944. I first read it around 1960 or possibly a year or so before. My mother recommended it to me! Wow, a bawdy book for a teenager back then! heh. Then I read it again in 1985. I may have read it again somewhere between then and now...I have not gone over my entire list of books-read yet. Still working on adding everything to my Shelfari shelf. :-)
The story takes place in Restoration England (mostly London, but also I think in America later in the book), which is the 1660's and on.
Now I want to rewatch "Stage Beauty", which takes place around 1660 and also "The Libertine", which takes place 10-to-20 years later and even has John Malkovich portraying Charles II. Both these films are
excellent, but not exactly for younger people (both movies are R-rated).
Totally not related to the above, but I also want to rewatch "Gosford Park" because I saw the very tail-end of it on the Independent Film Channel last night. I got a used DVD of that at GameStop some time back!
We have to wait until later today before we can watch ANYthing, as it's so bright in the living room on sunny days. So maybe a couple or more hours. Oh. The sun will go down later today--stupid Daylight Saving Time ::grumble grumble::
