July 4th, 2007

Happy 4th!

Go here to see purty graphics and good wishes!

Storms

I tried to post this from my DS Lite, but good ole LJ wouldn't recognize my password. So I am posting from Bunnicula's computer.

We are under a tornado watch until 9pm. There is a severe thunderstorm just west of us. That's mostly all I wanted to say.

Nervous. What a 4th of July. :-/

Still here + beads

Well, that was a fast-moving storm that became severe as it was leaving us. Lots of rain and wind, some lightning and thunder.

Early this afternoon, before the storms got here, I made a new set of beads. They are here.

About that Nokia N800

The Internet Tablet PC (that's what it calls itself, although it's a palm-sized device). It's going back to amazon.com. It has the problem of inexplicably turning itself on all by itself at odd times. Also, the right side of the screen is a bit dark. It's a fun toy for people who like to get into code and play with the innards of devices. It's *not* for the casual user who wants something to work right out of the box. And I had read warnings that it's like a "beta" device. Anyway, better to send it back and save the money.

I need to get to know my laptop better...

4th of July stuff

This evening, as it was getting dark, Bunnicula and I went out to see and hear what we could see and hear. :-) Fireworks were going off all over the place! We couldn't *see* anything, but we could hear things near and far. It was exciting!

I phoned Cat'r from outside. He could hear a bottle rocket go off across our street. But I didn't keep him on the phone long--it was storming where he is.

Lightning bugs! Well, that's what we called them when I was growing up. AKA fireflies. :-) They are so pretty. I'm glad I got to see some of them too. :-)

On our way back upstairs, we looked out the plate-glass windows to the west, from the landing, and got to *see* some of the fireworks! Gorgeous!

We didn't buy any fireworks this year. I dunno--bad choice. Next year I want to at least have drop-pops and sparklers, so I can feel a part of it all when evening rolls around.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!
