Mysterious thuds
We've heard three or so loud thuds up on the roof this evening. The first time I thought it was someone hammering/hitting a wall in one of the other apartments. That was around...9pm? Then around 11pm or so another *thud*. That definitely sounded like it was up on the roof. And then again around 1am. Uh...now that I'm looking at the times, isn't that weird--two-hour intervals?
Anyway, there are no trees overhanging the roof, that I can remember (the ones nearest our side of the building were either cut down (urgh) or severely pruned this past autumn). Well, wait: my favourite maple tree out front may overhang the very front end of the apartment building; but that is far away from us.
So the only thing that I can think is that large chunks of ice are now and again falling off the individual rooftop air conditioning units.
Scary-sounding. I hope the roof holds up okay.
