Update on cell phone!
Well, I *did* ask Ganesha to help me get the phone I wanted at the price I wanted! But I forgot that He is not only the Remover of Obstacles. He also places obstacles in your path if you are going in a way that is counter to what would be best. :-P
The last straw of Cingular's sucky customer service (including one sales rep. who lied to me about phone price; another sales rep. who didn't know half the answers to things I was asking him; and people mostly apologizing for things that went wrong) was their charging our checking account TWICE and causing us to be overdrawn. The overdraft fee will be waived, thankfully (I phoned our bank and explained what happened; and since we've been long-time good customers, they will waive the $33 fee).
So I cancelled my order with Cingular (but I have to wait for the phone to arrive to refuse it, so we can get the money back ::sigh::).
In the meantime, I am going to stay with Virgin Mobile (where I still have almost $90 stacked up) and get a new phone for $30 this weekend (if it's in stock at Circuit City). It's an AudioVox 8610. I don't need a phone to take pictures. I don't need a lot of stuff. I just want one that I can use when I need it and that I can accessorize to kingdom come. :-P And I'll do it at about 1/3d the price!
So even though the whole experience with Cingular was frustrating and blood-pressure-raising, in the long run I'm glad it turned out this way. :-)
