More crocheting

Today I made two flowers for the white hat I made yesterday: one in the same white yarn; one in that same yarn, in white and orchid, two strands held together. I made both so that they could be tied onto the hat from the inside--interchangeable. :-)

I worked some more on a stole/shawl I am making in Lion Brand Chunky USA Lavender Jazz. It's the pattern that came in a kit (by Lion Brand) called Crochet for a Cause. The kit comes with one skein of LB Chunky USA Cherry Blossom, a pink P-15 (10 mm) crochet hook, pattern, and a breast self-exam chart. Sales benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The pattern is for a lacy openwork scarf, but I have made it wider and am using yarn I already had on hand. I'm almost half-way through. :-) I don't think I want to do fringe on the ends, though--I think some form of scallops will be nice. :-)

Then my Patons Brilliant yarn arrived today (along with some Red Heart Grande---White and Country Club) that I had ordered from Knitting Warehouse online. This evening I chained three uh, ropes? Well, I held two strands together and chained 200 chains of White Twinkle (which looks like silver). Then I did the same in Gold Glow. And finally I held one strand of Sparkling Rose and one strand of Marvelous Mocha together and chained a "rope" of that. These three "ropes" will be braided together in the next day or so, for the ceremony next week. :-) :-)

I had also ordered some Patons Brilliant Lilac Luster, because I wasn't sure which would look more lavender-y, that or the Sparkling Rose. What I ended up doing is making a Capulet Caplet by holding one strand of Sparkling Rose and one strand of Lilac Luster together as one. From a distance, it turns into the shade of lavender I needed. :-)

So the only project I am on a timeline for at the moment is the Lavender Jazz stole/shawl. I hope to finish that in a day or so. (*knock on wood!*)

Handfasting update and crochet explanation

The silver "rope" represents the Goddess, the gold one represents the God, the other two colours represent us :-) Cat'r and I will braid these together in the next day or so. This is the cord that the Priestess will use to "bind" out hands in our handfasting ceremony next...Wednesday! A week from tomorrow/today! Eep!

Tomorrow I pick up my bouquet. I hope I don't turn into "Bridezilla" (difficult, pouty, screaming, etc.)--the florist said the ribbon he had used was white. ::sigh:: I phoned him back after fretting for about 20 minutes. I asked if the ribbon was beyond changing, but he said no. I need less white and more lavender. White = virginal. Not what I want. Also, I may be wearing a white (yes white--it was the yarn I had bought for this pattern before we had even discussed the handfasting!) capelet (according to the weather), and I need COLOUR to stand out against it.

That's another reason why I made a lavender/white flower for the white hat. I didn't want all this all-white stuff for next Wednesday. In case it's cold enough for that hat and capelet. I can always attach the all-white flower later. White goes with everything. :-)

I still have NO idea what I will be wearing on The Day. It will depend on the weather. I do not do well with much of any temperature variation, so I have to dress carefully and/or in layers. Plus it'll be outdoors, so that's why the concern. If this were an indoor ceremony, I would have a pretty good idea of what the temp. would be like. Anyway, that's why I have been madly crocheting so many different things for myself. :-P Something for almost every eventuality (I hope!).

I haven't ordered the cake yet. It will be an off-the-rack fudge cake that Busken's routinely carries. We can have writing put on it when Bunnicula picks it up. I have learned not to order from Busken's too far in advance or they tend to totally forget your order. :-/ So probably Friday or Saturday I will phone them.

We already have the Martinelli's Sparkling Cider; we will get ice cream on Friday (yes, cake AND ice cream!).

Cat'r's been working on the rough draft of the ritual. Our Priestess will be over Thursday evening.

Need to get a little extra ribbon from the florist for the rings and also some for a pendant I *may* wear. It's on black velvet ribbon at the moment.

Beautiful springtime!

I went out this evening and took some photos, but I know I won't get to putting them up until at LEAST after the 13th--bizzy bizzy.

But I got photos of daffodils and violets and other flowers whose names I don't know. And a ball-shaped marble fountain too! I hope that comes out good. The light was definitely going.

Maybe in a couple more weeks (at most!), Cat'r can take me riding around, and I can take photos far and wide. :-)

Florist

Oooo, my bouquet is just beautiful!! And while we were there, the florist just added some extra pale lavender ribbons. He did a super job!

He used to live next door to us umpteen million years ago; and I like to "give him the business", so to speak. :-) He's a very sweet man and a wonderful florist. :-)
