Writing to please whom?

There seems to be a lot of talk going around LJ as to writing style, for whom one is writing one's journal, and apparently even instances of people dissing others' LJ's because they are too "surface".

I find that if I think too much about how others "write so much better than I do" and other such nonsense, and then try to think of serious, deep topics to discuss, ON PURPOSE (and not just thoughts coming along in my daily thoughts), I get in trouble. And am not comfortable with my journal. Or myself.

So I think that one *should* "write for oneself" i.e. write for one's OWN pleasure. :-)

Beddy-bye

I should go to bed now. I should NOT go to IRC. I should not keep surfing LiveJournal. Eeeeeep!

Bears an' such

Well, I did a little surgery on Christopher, my Vermont Teddy Bear. A few stitches around the edge of his right foot pad looked like they were sort-of stretched (hadn't actually been stitched tightly); and I was worried that if he ever had to go through the washing machine that they might pull out more. So I did magickal anaesthetic, then stitched it. I think it looks okay (not very noticeable), and Christopher has made a full recovery. :-)

Teddy showed Christopher his back seam, that I had had to stitch up one time after Teddy had gone through the washer and dryer. Teddy came out with his back seam undone, and his STUFFING was all coming out his back! Eep! But I got him fixed up pretty quick. :-)

Christopher is not allowed in the dryer (like he'd WANT to go?!), so we don't have to worry about that. Instead, if he ever gets washed, I'm supposed to hang him up by his EARS (eeeep!!). So say the instructions that came along with him. It says,

"WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

When Vermont Teddy Bears get dirty and need a good bath, they like to ride in your washing machine on the gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent. But first, to protect their eyes, tuck your bear inside a pillowcase. Vermont Teddy Bears like to hang by their ears to dry (they love to boogie in the breeze). Please never put them in the dryer (Vermonters can't take the heat!). When they're all dry, brush their fur to fluff them up. They like that best of all!"

HTML:: Wow, I just wrote the previous entry in Notepad, putting in the little HTML tags ALL BY MYSELF! Hey, this is a serious accomplishment for me, so don't laugh. :-P

It seems LiveJournal is down at the moment. It was acting a bit erratic earlier this morning...Anyway, now that I've gotten into the journaling habit, I will just write these entries in Notepad until I can cut and paste them into the little Windows client and upload them. :-)

Yay! and stuff

My copy of the PlayStation game "Top Shop" arrived today from Gamestop Online (Babbage's Etc.). I returned Cat'r's copy a couple days ago, so I was eagerly awaiting my own copy.

Gonna get some lunch, then start getting caught up in Microsoft Money.

Money, music, etc.

Got the receipts, pay stubs, etc. logged into Microsoft Money, in our cash flow account. It is still thinking we have $25 more than we do...but we'll see where we are after another weekly paycheck (tomorrow) and another weekly trip to the grocery. We'll try to get this straightened out some time this weekend.

Cat'r was over late this afternoon: "Dance Dance Revolution" arrived today; and he bought a "Jungle Book" dance game + dance pad also (which can be used with DDR and other dance games). It was fun, but I suck at dancing. :-P Well, just think about how far apart all those symbols are on the dance pad...and how small a mouse is!! Eep! ::hopping madly from square to square!:: I did better using the controller. :-) I was having fun on the Beginner level, but I don't think I can cut it at ALL on the Normal level. :-D

Stuff about 'Angel', somewhat spoilerific... )
