Teddy bears et al.

Okay, I admit it, I talk to my teddy bears (and other stuffed animals). And sing to them too. :-) Certain ones of them have their own songs: Teddy, my Mr. Bean knitted bear, has a song made up about him using the tune of "Edelweiss"; Stutz has one about him using the tune of "Curly-Headed Baby"; Jenny McBruin (the Boyds people named her that--no, I wasn't that clever) has "Jenny Put The Kettle On" with its real lyrics (from the singing of Jean Ritchie); Merry Mouse (a gorgeous plush mousie dressed up in a white satin blouse, green skirt, and burgundy pinafore) has a song I made up just for her; and Christopher is still waiting for his song. :-P So is Shirley, my very very LARGE realistic stuffed giant panda. I started working on one for Alison Bearburg (another Boyds bear) today, since her song just cries OUT for the use of the melody of "Eleanor Rigby". :-D

I also make up little impromptu lullabies and things too. Oh, yes, I did use the first verse of "Still, Still", the German Christmas carol, with slightly different words and humming, for my first- and second-ever Tamagotchi: "Sleep, sleep, sleep/ My little Eggy Peep" (or ..."little brothers Peep"). :-)

Groceries, Iron Chef, and stuff

Hey, lots of bargains at the store today! A lot of "buy one, get one free" things: packages of hot dogs, lunchmeat, smoked sausage, pudding; good discounts on other items we use regularly. And good expiration dates too, so we don't have to hurry hurry to use them up. :-) I was a little worried about what it would all add up to, with all the things I put on the list today; but it came out a very reasonable price. :-)

Cat'r will be over after while, and we will all watch "The Lone Gunmen" (on their new night) and then watch and/or tape "Iron Chef". It's going to be sting ray tonight--eeep! I didn't know people ATE sting ray! I wonder who will get to tackle *this* theme ingredient; and I wonder if it will be alive....eeeeep! I think the hardest for me to watch (and I had to look away a lot until all the cooking was under way) was an octopus battle.

On to something more pleasant: it's a cool, grey, drizzly day--my favourite kind of weather. :-)

Well, off to read what others have been up to. :-)

P.S. This is harp music--lovely!
