Water water everywhere

Well, actually, it's in pots and in the bathtub and such. The waterworks is putting in a new water meter in our apartment building today, and the notice downstairs said that the water would be off from 8:30am-12:30pm (they didn't actually shut it off until 9am). I hope they can get everything done in that time...and that they don't mess up.

Anyway, I don't think we really appreciate hot and cold running water that much until we don't *have* it. Now I get to do the dip-the-bucket-in-the-bathtub-and-pour-down-toilet in order to flush it; and do an equivalent of the pitcher-and-basin routine for washing hands. Good thing we don't drink the tap water here at home: we have bottled water on hand (and in the fridge) as a matter of course.

Somebody *stop* me before I bid again! LOL! Well, I can afford these things, but online auctions *are* such fun. I won four little pads of Tare panda mini foldup notes late last night (yes, I need sleep instead of being on eBay at 2am!). I also "won" a couple things via "buy it now": some panda dim sum stickers (very weird!), and some other panda food (hamburgers made to look like pandas? well, sorta!) stationery. It's totally cute, but very strange. :-D

Dry as a bone...

Well, we've been without running water for 12 hours now. There are 6 vehicles out there in the street. I have been hearing jackhammers and all manner of power equipment.

Apparently, when the water company shut off the water at the main, in order to install a new meter in our apartment complex (which, incidentally, they successfully did), they managed to *break* something out in the street, at the main. So they can't turn the water back *on*. So they are hoping to get it fixed tonight. But we got in some extra bottled water, just in case.
